History
Our business goes back to 1929. Then, as now, our commitment to customer service and product quality is the foundation of our business. Long term employees, modern technology and a strong midwestern work ethic make Eagle Sign the logical choice for all your identification needs.
1929
Mr. Al Campbell founded Iowa Neon Sign Company. Iowa Neon produced all type s of signs while specializing in elaborate theater marquees. In this era before plastics, neon was the exclusive medium for illuminated signs explaining the wide range of customers using this medium. Nevertheless, they produced all types of signs including a prototype sign for General Motors. Iowa Neon soon prospered and became the undisputed leader of the industry in central Iowa.
1946
Mr. Forrest R. Cox founded Cox Neon. Similar to Iowa Neon, the majority of their business was in custom neon lit signs.
1958
Mr. John Paul incorporated Quick Sign. John had worked at Iowa Neon for a number of years then split off to start up his own sign business. Typical sign types included neon signage as well as various cabinet signs with plastic faces.
1977-78
In 1977 Quick Sign purchased the assets of Iowa Neon Sign Company, thus inheriting many customers and years of experience. The following year, Quick Sign was acquired by a group of three investors with Mr. Randy Kinzer as President.
1979-80
In an effort to establish the sign comp any as one of strength and stability, in 1979 the name was changed Eagle Sign & Advertising Co., which is the company’s current registered trademark name. The new name also reflected a new direction for the company as, among other things, the company began to focus on doing business with regional and national corporate accounts and producing high quality sign products. Eagle Sign acquired Cox Neon in 1980, which had a number of established and loyal customers in the Des Moines area and beyond.
1988
Ron Duitsman joined Randy Kinzer as co-owner of Eagle Sign, a management team that over saw the largest growth of the company in its existence.
2000
By this time, nearly all of Eagle’s business had become regional or national in scope, and most of the signs produced were being shipped out of state. Among the national companies Eagle had worked with over the years are Best Buy, Country Kitchen, Western Auto, and Cenex/Land O’ Lakes.
2006
On February 7, 2006, Nagle Signs, Inc. purchased the assets of Eagle Sign & Advertising Co. and made them a division of Nagle Signs, Inc. Today, Nagle Signs, Inc. and Eagle Sign continue in their commitment to provide quality products and outstanding service to local, regional, and national corporate accounts.
